Three Day Workshop & Teacher Training
With Karen Wilde

Place: Vancouver, BC

Date: June 25 - 27 & 28, 2010

Karen Wilde began teaching Yoga in England in 1973. In 1978 she was introduced to Iyengar Yoga by Martyn Jackson in Sydney. She attended her first classes at the Institute with BKS Iyengar in 1979 and since that time has returned to Pune on a regular basis. Karen is now a Senior Level teacher. Karen has been active in the Australian Iyengar Yoga Association for many years, currently as an assessor and a teacher trainer.

Karen is a qualified physiotherapist in private practice and in 1990 she opened her school of Iyengar Yoga in Warrnambool, Australia. As a current member of the Continence and Women’s Health group (a division of the Australian Physiotherapy Association), Karen conducts both the basic and advanced pelvic floor courses of physiotherapists at the post graduate level.

Please bring your own equipment. Participants must have 6 months of Iyengar Yoga experience.

Jawahar Bangera has been a student of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar since 1969 and a teacher since 1980. He runs two centers in Mumbai, India and travels the world giving workshops. Summer Rural Retreat on Haida Gwaii/Queen Charlotte Islands

Daily Schedule:

Optional excursions/quiet walks on the beach in late afternoon/evening.

Cost: (Includes accommodation, three meals, and six hours of yoga per day)
$160/day for 10 days or $180/day for first seven days. Preference will be given to those who attend the full retreat.

Travel costs are separate as individuals can choose to travel by car/ferry/plane. Those interested in plane travel will book the same flight out of Vancouver, as all need to be picked up at the same time.

Please arrive by late Monday afternoon as dinner will be provided. The retreat begins on Tuesday morning. Departure is Friday morning.

Lauren has been an Iyengar yoga student since 1984 and has been teaching since 1989. She continues to study under Shirley Daventry French and visiting senior teachers. Lauren has studied at the RIMYI in Pune, most recently in June 2004.

Ty has been studying yoga since the late 80's and completed the 3-year Iyengar Yoga Centre of Victoria's Teacher Training program under the direction of Linda Benn in 2001. She studies weekly with Shirley Daventry French and has taken workshops with many senior teachers. She continues her training by making trips to Pune to study with the Iyengars, and to Blacons, France to study with Faeq Biria.

Linda Shevloff is a senior Canadian Iyengar yoga teacher, who has lived in Hong Kong since 1994. Linda is both the chair of IYAC's Professional Development Committee and a Canadian assessor. Over the past thirty years she has studied with the Iyengar family in Pune many times.

Linda is the Director of the Iyengar Yoga Centre of Hong Kong, from where she runs a large teacher training program. She also heads Teacher Training and Asesssments for the recently formed Iyengar Yoga Association of South East and East Asia (IYASEEA). Linda teaches with precision and inquisitiveness and enjoys sharing her passion for the subject of yoga.

Seeing, Understanding, and Reflecting from the Base - Part 2

Date: September 30 to October 3, 2010

Stephanie Quirk worked as a psychiatric nurse and graduated from art school in her native New Zealand before beginning Iyengar yoga in 1987. She made her first trip to Pune in 1991 and, inspired by the Iyengars, returned several times. She eventually moved to Pune, and has spent many years studying daily at RIMYI and assisting in general and therapeutic classes.

Teachers who attended Part 1 have priority to attend Part 2, which Stephanie has stated is a mandatory prerequisite to the final 4 parts of the workshop. Stephanie is allowing people who missed year one to attend year two. After this, no new registrations will be allowed. Students who attended Part 1 should register for Part 2 by April 15, 2009.

Father Joe Pereira has been a direct student of B.K.S. Iyengar since 1968. He has taught yoga for twenty years and today is a renowned Sr. Iyengar yoga teacher. As a Jesuit Priest he worked very closely with Mother Teresa. Inspired by both Mother Teresa and B.K.S. Iyengar, Father Joe combined these two passions and developed the Kripa Foundation Iyengar Yoga, a recovery program for the chemically dependent. Today there are more than 30 centres across India.

Father Joe's workshops are based on the Iyengar yoga tradition of meditation, pranayama and alignment. He uses asana sequences with the integration of the twelve step program to bring awareness and light to his students. His workshops are inspirational, challenging and draw the student to look deeply within through yoga practice.

Ingelise Nherlan has dedicated herself to the practice of yoga since 1970 and was one of the founding members of the B.K.S. Iyengar Association of Vancouver. She has studied many times at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune, India and with many senior level teachers. She was awarded a Senior Intermediate III Teacher's Certificate from Mr. Iyengar in 1997. Ingelise's approach is inspiring and integrates the philosophy of yoga with the practical work of asanas and breathing in a way that is easy to understand. Her teaching style is energetic and thorough, with an emphasis on discovering the hidden engergies that lie dormant within the mind and body of all human beings. Ingelise teaches at the Room for Yoga Studio in Vancouver.

Six months Iyengar yoga required.

Schedule:
Friday (Teacher Training): 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Saturday: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Sunday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Cost:
Teacher Training only - $100; $125 after Oct 31.
Workshop only - $160; $175 after Oct 31.
Teacher Training and Workshop - $225 before Oct 15; $250 after Oct 31.
