Neeta is blessed to have been initiated into Yoga by Yogacharya Shri BKS Iyengar in 1975, and then studied with him regularly for twelve years, until her move to the United States in 1987. She continues to study at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune during her annual visits to India. Through her teaching, Neeta reflects a deep understanding of the Iyengar method. With a joyful and precise approach, Neeta is able to help students experience the bliss of yoga through learning and practising the yogasanas.
Students require a minimum of six months' Iyengar yoga experience.

Weekend Workshop

Marlene Mawhinney is one of Canada's foremost teachers, and has studied with the Iyengar family in Pune, India on numerous occasions. She is the Director of Yoga Centre Toronto, and was inspirational in creating the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada. Marlene has been a driving force in establishing certification standards and professionalism amongst Iyengar yoga teachers from coast to coast.
Marlene returns for her seventh consecutive year working with the Prana Yoga Studio community. The workshop is open to intermediate and advanced students, and will be limited to 30 participants.

Seeing, Understanding, and Reflecting from the Base - Part 2

Stephanie Quirk worked as a psychiatric nurse and graduated from art school in her native New Zealand before beginning Iyengar yoga in 1987. She made her first trip to Pune in 1991 and, inspired by the Iyengars, returned several times. She eventually moved to Pune, and has spent many years studying daily at RIMYI and assisting in general and therapeutic classes.
Teachers who attended Part 1 have priority to attend Part 2, which Stephanie has stated is a mandatory prerequisite to the final 4 parts of the workshop. Stephanie is allowing people who missed year one to attend year two. After this, no new registrations will be allowed. Students who attended Part 1 should register for Part 2 by April 15, 2009.

Father Joe maintains that “yoga strengthens inner resources and lessens one’s dependency on external factors.” He has a Master’s Degree in Indian philosophy, specializing in yoga; and has studied with B.K.S. Iyengar, Geeta and Prashant Iyengar for many years. He conducts workshops and lectures in India, N. America, Europe and Mexico. He is Founder and Director of Kripa Centre in Mumbai, India. Kripa Centre now has over 25 branches for recovering alcoholics and drug addicts throughout India and has become a successful model of recovery worldwide. Father Joe’s teaching reflects his deep understanding of yoga, and his experience as a counselor brings a special dimension to his work.

This workshop is for Levels 2, 3 and 4 students who are steady in Sirsasana (at wall OK), as well as Sarvangasana and variations.
