Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute
As a part of ongoing professional development, Iyengar yoga teachers are encouraged to attend four weeks of public classes periodically at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute(RIMYI) in Pune, India. Public classes are taught by senior teachers from the Institute.
Any Canadian teacher conducting teacher training courses and workshops requires four trips to RIMYI to qualify as a teacher trainer.
The IYAC/ACYI RIMYI Study Scholarship Fund was established to support the development of assessors and teacher trainers in Canada. It is designed to assist certified teachers to study at RIMYI, recognizing that the required four trips to Pune can be financially burdensome. To apply as an IYAC/ACYI member, please login and navigate to the Members -> Documents menu, and scroll down to the RIMYI Section.

Note: When applying to RIMYI, indicate your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices for dates to attend. Applicants can expect up to two year wait from application submission. The wait time can vary depending on space availability and/or 1st choice request.
Travel Passports and Visas
All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Mission or Post abroad.

NOTE: When filling out the forms, it is important to apply as a “Tourist”. Otherwise, there may be complications with your application and consequently, delays. Travelling to Pune, India, requires time and planning. In addition to applying to RIMYI through the IYAC/ACYI application, you must have a valid passport, and Indian Visa. Once these have been completed, students are encouraged to updated travel vaccinations, book international flights, review local transportation, book Mumbai to Pune transportation, and arrange accommodations.
