Assessment
To become certified, an applicant must undergo and pass a comprehensive assessment process. In applying for assessment, the applicant must include a qualified teacher's recommendation which includes an assurance the applicant has successfully fulfilled all of the teacher training requirements.
The assessment process includes a written take-home exam, an observation and evaluation of the applicant's personal yoga asana practice and an evaluation of the applicant's ability to teach selected asanas to real students. The assessments are done by a panel of qualified teachers.
Assessments are held several times a year in various cities across Canada. For a listing of currently scheduled assessments, go to Events.

Certification Mark
A worldwide patent has been registered in the name of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar to regulate the use of his name. This patent or certification mark is available to certified teachers in good standing who study, teach, disseminate and promote the art, science and philosophy of yoga according to the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar without mixing in other styles of yoga.
The certification mark is, therefore, a contract with Mr. Iyengar that establishes the teacher's authenticity and dedication to the Iyengar Method. Mr. Iyengar has asked that all teachers apply for the certification mark one year after they receive their Introductory certificates. After applying for and paying the fee, teachers receive a copy of the Certification Mark and are allowed to use it as a display logo for promotional and identification purposes.
To apply for the Certification Mark, contact Donna Fornelli.
