IYAC/ACYI as the governing body for Iyengar Yoga in Canada, we set the requirements and standards for teacher training and we certify teachers through annual assessments held in various parts of the country. Click on Events for a current listing of teacher training workshops and assessments. Click on Become a Teacher for more information about teacher training and assessment for certification.

The IYAC/ACYI upholds a rigorous Code of Ethics for its teachers and has a professional system for dealing with complaints and appeals.

We host a variety of Events including workshops and national conferences such as the one which brought Geeta Iyengar, Sri B. K. S. Iyengar's daughter and internationally revered teacher of her father's system, to Vancouver, B.C. in May, 2001 and to Penticton, May 2008, for opportunities to study Iyengar Yoga from the source.

The IYAC/ACYI is the Canadian liaison with Sri B.K.S. Iyengar and coordinates studies by Canadian practitioners at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India. To find out more about the experiences of Canadian Iyengar yogis in Pune or how to apply for study in Pune, click on Pune Connection.
